Umbarger in Texas is a small community that forms part of the Amarillo metropolitan area.

The consistent Umbarger housing market is complemented by the low crime rates. The most recent stats indicate that crime rates are low across the area. This includes crimes concerning violence, as well as properties. Umbarger and Randall County have lower crime statistics than the State of Texas average and the national average.

U.S. Highway 60 connects Umbarger to Canyon, which is 10 miles away. It is also 30 miles away from Amarillo, a nearby city. Since the 1990s, the population has remained at a steady 300-400 people. One of the town's focal features is St. Mary's Catholic Church. Unusually, the church features artwork from Italian prisoners of war detained in the area following World War II. This artwork is unique to St. Mary's Catholic Church, and is a piece of Umbarger's history.

Surroundings:

The nearby Buffalo Lake and National Park features 175 acres of marshes, woodlands, and natural habitats. The wildlife here includes black tailed prairie dogs, which can be seen in broad daylight. Buffalo Lake and National Park is a suitable and free destination for a family day out.

If you're new to the area, local restaurant Rafter G BBQ serves BBQ dishes that are native to Texas. As a restaurant that is known for serving some of the best Gelato in the Texas panhandle, it is ideal for a lazy lunch or casual dinner.

Although Umbarger is a small community, the smaller touches there make it feel homely. Being within easy reach of Amarillo and Canyon means Umbarger is well located for city amenities, without being in the throes of a city itself.
